Quarantining for the last 162 days has led me to nature. Getting outside and breathing fresh air from the trees and getting as close to (or in!) the water as I can has done so much for my peace. I posted a while ago that we always wish for folks to “rest in peace,” but what about living in it? Finding peace, holding onto peace + living in peace. Those are my life goals. When you abide in peace, everything else suddenly starts to click and fall into place. Pandemic parenting and peace can be synonymous, but it takes a lot of effort and forethought. Keeping a schedule, naptime, bedtime, meal times, and sticking to it has really gone a long way. Similarly, outdoor time is crucial. When we don’t make it outside on rainy days, the house turns into a playground! I am hosting a session on pandemic parenting this Sunday evening. I have one remaining space available... If you’re interested and have read thus far, just shoot me a message! 💚 #peaceispriceless

Congratulations to @KamalaHarris, the first Black woman, first woman of color, first person of Indian decent, first HBCU graduate, to be chosen by a major party as the Vice Presidential candidate. She is only the second Black woman ever elected to the United States Senate and the third woman in American history to be VP on a major party’s ticket. If elected, she will be the first woman of ANY party to serve as VP of the United States. #HERstory
Tonight, I pay homage to the countless women who have paved the way for Senator Harris. Notably:
Shirley Chisholm, First Black Woman elected to US Congress, 1969
Carol Mosley Braun, First Black Woman elected to US Senate, 1992
Geraldine Ferraro, First Woman VP candidate, 1984
I celebrate this moment for every woman named and the countless whose names we have never known, who worked tirelessly in the background, making things happen.

Do you know how this black & white photo challenge began? Pınar Gültekin, a 27-year-old young woman, was violently murdered by her former partner. Last year, 474 women were similarly victims of #feminicide in Turkey. Before you brush this off thinking, “That’s another country & has nothing to do with me,” let’s bring this convo right home to Kentucky, USA: 137 days later, we are still seeking #JusticeforBreonnaTaylor who was brutally murdered AT HOME IN HER BED. I’m also lifting up Vanessa Guillén, a 20-year-old US Soldier, killed by a man she dated on a US Army base while serving our country!
We are in the midst of a global pandemic, causing women around the world to be quarantined...locked-in with their abusers. Every study I’ve read indicates that more women will die this year, while abuse is vastly under reported. How do women call for help when they are locked in with their abuser? Is it worth the risk when so often authorities will do nothing about it?
If you haven’t heard your City Council Person, Mayor, Governor, say anything about what they’re doing for women in this pandemic, that is a PROBLEM.
While we stand for Breonna Taylor, let’s remember that she has not received justice yet because there is an entire system that needs to be rebuilt around the premise that #WomensLivesMatter.
People pay lip service to women’s rights, but let’s face it… Women are expected to take pain and endure it silently. When we do call for help, we are marginalized… black-listed, defamed, and run over by a system that wasn’t built by us or for us.
Lastly, don’t be fooled. Leadership can look like you, and not do a thing FOR YOU. It is on us to use our voice, our privilege, and whatever breathe God has put in our lungs to require accountability from the people we vote for and the systems taking taxes out of our paychecks.
Thank you to my tribe for nominating me for this challenge… If you didn’t know what this movement was about, that’s OK. Now that you do, please post again or add to your captions. Uplift women by standing in the gap for those who are no longer here to stand for themselves. 🖤
